• Spot clean preferred — for minor spills, blot immediately with a clean damp cloth; do not rub, as rubbing can crush the velvet pile
• Hand wash or delicate machine cycle at 30°C (86°F) maximum; use a mesh laundry bag to protect the lace border
• Mild detergent only — avoid bleach or enzyme-based cleaners that can damage velvet fibres and discolour the lace
• Do not tumble dry — lay flat or hang to dry away from direct sunlight, which can fade deep colourways over time
• Steam, do not iron — use a garment steamer on low to restore the pile; if ironing is necessary, press on the reverse side through a pressing cloth on the lowest setting
• Brush the pile — use a soft velvet brush in one direction to restore the nap after washing or storage
